I can now successively parse vote-selection.xml using Gnosis_Utils.

There are some needed pieces missing to print the paper ballot:

The huge integer used to produce the bar code. Should this also
be included in the XML document, or passed on by some other means?

The ballot number - perhaps '<cast_ballot number="4216"...' (it
can of course also be extracted form the huge integer).

How does the vice president come in here? Since he/she is coupled
with the president, I suppose it should not be defined by a
  separate <election ...>.

  The precinct, I suppose '<cast_ballot precinct="2216"...'.

In the sample ballot there are extra heading lines: "OFFICIAL
BALLOT", and "GENERAL ELECTION" (for the demo it is of course
easy to just add these, or whatever).
