We have 2 proposals for how to do this:

1) Use the GPL'ed utility gok and create a customized keyboard for it.
gok returns entered values through stdout. The default keyboard for it
is complex and needs to be simplified for our needs matching the formats
I understand have been discussed on this or the other list (an
alphabetical keyboard). This would need to be invoked from John Paul's
code.

2) Refactor out Eron's keyboard tool and integrate it with JP's code. I
like this idea for M2, but perhaps not for M1. Eron has a critical code
drop due on Wednesday. Again, this needs to be integrated with the
voting station UI code from JP.

Solution #1 seems the safest since gok is tested code. It's also very
important that we get Eron's code drop for the reconciliation system on
Wednesday, so I suggest someone other then Eron do code for write-ins.
This can change if Eron finishes early :) Note that if all we have is
an integration of gok with it's default configuration we have solved the
basic needs and can add a better configuration later.

If anyone on this list is willing to do a configuration file for gok, it
would be greatly appreciated.

Either JP or Jan would be ideal for creating the integration code for
JP's user interface.
