please trim your quotations

Such gratification as may accrue from reading my own prose is
completely overwhelmed by the annoyance of seeing too much of it
quoted too often and too irrelevantly. I've just seen my original
posting about "Holt's OWN WORDS" buried six quotation levels deep in
a posting that referred to it not at all.

If we think our responses to a posting are worth other readers' time,
we should show them the courtesy of editing out of our posting the
parts of the quotation to which we are not replying.
