It's a good thing that Brian Behlendorf -- who is on this list, btw --
didn't think this. His Apache web server software has a sixty percent
market share over MSFT's 30 percent or so.

Sun is taking business from MSFT with OpenOffice. Red Hat is now a billion
dollar company and growing very rapidly. Dell is now shipping PCs with
Ubuntu installed on them. Microsoft's efforts to change NY state laws to
suit them failed this year.

The open source world is confronting Microsoft head on in many venues.

Open source is the future in voting software. It's also the future of all
software doing routine functions. There will be a place for proprietary
software, but it will become more specialized. No way MSFT can keep the
gravy train going forever.
