Ginny,

One of our biggest problems is groups like Common Cause who orginally pushed
HAVA through and currently are just as unwisely trying to push HR550 through
and even asking Congress for machine audits that can be easily subverted,
rather than vote count audits that would ensure election integrity if
sufficient, transparent, verifiable, and scientifically conducted.

Unless the manul audit provision of HR550 is modified to make vote count
audits sufficient, verifiable, transparent, scientific, and constitutional,
HR550 has huge potential to do more harm than good.

If we could get Common Cause to cease and desist their efforts or join us in
requesting an expert rewrite of HR550 that would give us verifiably,
transparently correct election outcomes, that might be a big help. Every
time I have tried approaching Common Cause, I have been rebuffed and told
that they are more expert than me. They refuse to seek expert advise prior
to devising their own ill-advised plans and taking action, which is why they
helped push through the HAVA act and are now pushing through legislation
that will interfere with our achieving election outcome integrity.

We need a group of people to interface with Common Cause and get them to
stop their counterproductive actions and join us in pushing for legislation
that would result in election outcome integrity. (not me - I'm too
frustrated with their ineptitude and bad effects on our democracy.)
