RootsCamps are 2006 post-election debriefs. The progressive community —
everyone from the "netroots" to precinct captains to field organizers to national
message consultants — is invited to come together to hash out what we learned
in 2006 and how to apply those lessons going forward.

There's going to be what looks like a great netroots gathering/conference in SF this weekend. There are also ways to participate online through a virtual-meeting tool called Second Life (info below).
I'm forwarding the following info from an acquaintance...

If you are in the SF bay area there might be quite a few active bloggers at the SF RootsCamp this weekend - http://rootscamp.pbwiki.com/RootsCampSF===="RootsCamp" is based on the successful "BarCamp" 'unconference' model for open meetings pioneered in the Web 2.0 world here in San Francisco (see BarCamp.org). We're applying the same model to progressive "netroots" politics through RootsCamp (see www.rootscamp.org)-- the antithesis of top-down-media-consultant-driven-Beltway-laden-Party-politics... ;) RootsCamp in San Francisco will be held 11-12th. All details here: http://rootscamp.pbwiki.com/RootsCampSFRootsCampSL is a RootsCamp in the virtual world Second Life ( http://www.secondlife.com), and is an effort to allow people that can't make it to a physical offline RootsCamp to still be able to participate in one, and also to get the progressive Netroots up to speed with Second Life-- which we believe will be an important political organizing platform for the 2008 election. RootsCampSL is being held every day Nov. 8th-15th from 1-3pm Pacific time. All details here: http://www.rootscampsl.org====Now as far as the SecondLife stuff goes there have been quite a few interesting articles on that.Gov. Warner's recent Press Conference in Second Life: http://nwn.blogs.com/nwn/2006/08/governor_mark_w.htmlThe case for Second Life to be the next "virtual Meetup platform" is laid out here: http://nwn.blogs.com/nwn/2006/05/virtual_meet_up.htmlBackground article from Wired:http://blog.wired.com/games/2006/11/qa_in_second_li.htmlDecent article on it from The Economist:http://www.economist.com/science/displayStory.cfm?story_id=7963538
