RE: Ballot Handling Equipment in Salem, Or

Hi Kurt,

I've added an email with a shipping estimate of $215, guessing it will
go for $100, you would know better... $300 for 2 high speed ballot
readers seems really cheap (and we could build them into a hell of a
demo). my ebay id is copetech.

Do you know how often this type of equipment comes up ?
Do you already have one I can modify ?

I *really* don't need to step into the barcode field, but I think
there is a stand-alone and compelling argument for the scope of OVC
to handle recounts, including postal absentee ...

And the down-hill path from there takes me to wanting to handle ballots
at high speed... Card stock... So I was hoping to modify one
or the other with a camera (maybe a barcode scanner... ).

Also just taking one apart could yeild some insights into a hypothetical
low speed ballot transport mechanism that could read & mark ballots....

Keith

Once the OVC-developer list starts working, I'd like to explore the
canvass side
especially with respect to limited ripples to the existing procedures.

I estimate that it would cost right around $215.00 to have this item
shipped directly to your residence. If this can be shipped to a business
with a loading dock or forklift, or picked up from a terminal, you could
deduct $50.00 from this amount.

Kurt, based on Doug's comment, you can have it. Happy bidding. I
find the best way is to bid high enough (with room for other bids) in
the last minute of the auction.

Best regards,
Arthur
