OVC mailing lists

The OVC-demo-team mailing list will be replaced by the OVC-developer
mailing list. Please reply to me, and not to the entire list, if you
want to be on this mailing list. This list will discuss
implementation issues for the In-Polling place systems. The renaming
of the list is to change from a Majordomo-style list to a
Mailman-style list. The renaming also indicates that we're going
beyond the demonstration to the development of a collection of
working prototypes. If you were on the OVC-demo-team mailing list,
you will have gotten a request to confirm being on this new mailing
list.

The voting-project mailing list will be renamed to OVC-discuss The
renaming of the list is to change from a Majordomo-style list to a
Mailman-style list. Another objective is to reduce the amount of
spam I'm getting bounced to me from addresses not on the list. Since
the mailing list preceded the creation of the OVC, the new list name
indicates that this mailing list is for the purpose of discussions of
OVC topics. If you were on the voting-project mailing list, you will
have gotten a request to confirm being on this new mailing list.

A benefit of the changes to a Mailman-style list is that it will
allow a degree of self-service. People will be able to change from
message-at-a-time to daily digest themselves, and they will be able
to shut off receipt of messages while on vacation. The archiving of
messages on the lists will remain unchanged.

A new mailing list, OVC-announce, will be created. All messages on
this list will also go to those on the other lists (OVC-developer,
OVC-discuss, and others created). OVC-announce will be a moderated
list (only selected people will be allowed to post). No discussions
will be allowed. Donors will automatically be added to the
OVC-announce list. Anyone will be allowed to join and the OVC
website will invite people to sign up for announcements. These
messages will be archived and accessible from the OVC website.

A new mailing list, OVC-county will be set up soon for discussions on
county-based systems. Please email me at arthur@kellers.org if you
want to be added to this list once it is set up.

Best regards,
Arthur
