To the best of my recollection the original 8" disks were 128k. My quad
density double sided drives ($2k/drive pair in the '80s!) got up to a
huge 1.2M!!! Friends of mine ran BBSs off of 16 of these at a time.
Wowza, now that's mass storage.

As a side note, Fred now writes software for doing storage systems
management at Softek Storage Solutions. Those disk arrays with fiber
channel are pretty fun!
