No one took me up on this proposal for a contest -- maybe no one thinks
we'll make it!

I know it's a long shot that we'll make the 1111 by 11/11 at this point, but
I still think it's possible and I plan to leave the goal there until 11/11.
If we don't make it, I may change it to 1201 by 12/01.

I still think it's possible because we now know that 200,000 visitors would
likely bring us a thousand subscriptions. If, for example, a mailing went
out on a large email list (with millions on the list) we could get 200,000
visitors in one day. So, I leave that as a possibility.

When I suggested this contest, we did not have statistics on visitors. Now
that Laird was hooked us up with Power Pphlogger (
http://www.cwfarchives.com/pphlogger/ user and pswd = ovc ) we have stats on
visitors. I was waaay to pessimistic on the number of visitors required. I
note that my prediction of page requests per visitor was pretty close.
Vistors look at an average of about 2 pages. This stats page
http://www.openvotingconsortium.org/stats/DAILYREP.html shows about 25,000
page requests since OCT 28 while we had around 12,000 visitors.

So, while we may or may not reach 1111 by 11/11, I think we will have the
1111 before we reach 500,000 page requests or 250,000 visitors.

I'm still interested in hearing your predictions. Please make them
optimistic so we have something to shoot for. That is, don't give us a
prediction that no body has to make any effort to achieve.
