C'mon Arthur!

If you read the archives, you can find EXTENSIVE discussion of the
dangers of power-failure in machines. Heck, you were yourself a
participant in those discussions! And also discussions of the
advantages/disadvantages of barcodes versus other marking styles. And
so on.

Of course it is true that many people have joined OVC since any given
past discussion. But it doesn't suddenly invalidate every past
reasoning and argument when a new person joins!

I'm not saying that the "sacred decisions" made last spring (or
whenever) are canon that can never be questioned. A new fact or a new
argument can still change opinions (including mine) about best design
principles. But I have not seen you introduce any new facts or new
arguments in this thread, just a generic complaint that "Well, the
elections happened and some new members joined." That's nowhere near
enough to throw out our design discussion and start from scratch.
