Hello Gene

We are using wxPython as the GUI API for the demo.
It wont be complete and I expect there will be many bugs, but
this is intended to be just a prototype, not the final product.

If you read the reply from David, you see that he has
mentioned not to use sizers, but to layout the elements in
a fixed format for a full screen 1280x1024 pixel sized screen.
For the final product, this may not be an option, since it might
be expected to resize the child elements according to window sizing
events. I am not sure about this, but this is the feeling I have.
If you want to know more ask the election experts in the list.

For the final product, we will have to go with an API much more
flexible than wxPython, and probably the entire code might even be
rewritten
in a different language. But those are early decisions at this point
and it is not wise to speculate right now. Certainly, we will consider
your API when the design decisions for the final product is taken, at
a later stage.

Best regards

-Anand

Hello Folks

I was in the process of coding the GUI. At this stage
I have the summary & usage titles plus the skeleton of the panel.

I could not resist sending a snapshot of the GUI as it looks like
now to the list :-). Enjoy!

Since this is under continued development, the next snapshot will have
more widgets and tend to look more like our mockup ballot.

   Anand;
I want to say this in a nice way and I don't want to offend you but
this is not the way to go about this. The GUI should be built not by
a coder but by a person who has an X Windows based GUI toolkit which
is proven, simple to use, extensible, powerful and which produces a
result which is esthetically pleasing. Here's [1]some results that
can be achieved by someone who has no coding skills but is using the
GUI toolkit I'm offering. I've been designing application-specific
GUI toolkits and application-specific GUIs built with these toolkits
for 20 years and the reason I'm willing to join in here is to make it
possible to achieve a great voting GUI in a way that is quick & easy,
and doesn't ignore what has been done over the past 20 years. You, or
anyone, can use this toolkit to build the mockup ballot without
writing any code whatsoever. There is lots of other code that needs
to be written, but there is no need to write any GUI code. There may
be a need to write some extensions to the GUI toolkit that can be used
to build the GUIs, but that's about it.
