Hello Karl:

The above is the page for the Registrar of Voters for San Diego County.
However, I've gotten the impression that Diebold's contract is that it has
to take back the decertified machines and replace them with something that
passes the California Secretary of State's approval. Therefore, I doubt it
the County will be selling anything unless Diebold balks or becomes
insolvent. The County hasn't actually said what it's going to about voting
machines. Also, I just read a press release in the "Government Technology,"
online newsletter today that Ohio is planning to go with the Diebold
AccuVote TSx so Diebold may just simply pry off the County of San Diego
property tags and sell them to Ohio at a slight discount. I can just hear
the pitch, "Slightly used voting machines only driven to the polls on
Tuesdays. A real cream puff." In other words, I don't think the AccuVote
TSx will be available or at least not yet. If I were Diebold, I'd be very
reluctant to part with one of these to a private party. Still, you can call
if you like.

Thanks, Ed Kennedy
