I believe that a better method would be to work with the Creative Commons
folks as a group rather than through only the better known names.

The ways of open source - and the nearly religious wars that ensue over
things that, to an outsider, appear as small differences - are very
intricate and emotion laden.

Our goal is a working viable software/hardware/process. Our goal isn't to
revisit the endless debates over open source.

Perhaps we might want to consider simply asking some group such as
Creative Commons to tell us what is "right" - of course it will reflect
their opinions as to the issues of the debates, but they are as likely,
and probably more likely, to come to a "better" answer than we are.

That way we burn our midnight oil focused on our main goal - creating the
voting system rather than spending it on ancillary matters.
