Assigning copyright?

Along the lines of Arthur's source code questions, and my comments on
Linux, FSF, etc, I wonder about copyright assignment.

I wrote the same some months earlier, but I'm still of the opinion that
OVC is not yet a very good candidate for copyright assignment. OVC is
just too new, and doesn't have a record of promoting Free Software. In
fact, discussions continue to come up on the list about exactly what
our licensing goals actually are.

To my mind, what might make more sense is assignment of EVM2003/OVC
source code to the FSF. They have a long record and good lawyers. Of
course, Peter Maggs and Karl Auerbach are good lawyers too; but for IP
issues, Mogen Eblen and Larry Lessig are pretty weighty names.
