Sorry to be diss'in and all. But I'm afraid the non-binary tree
doesn't "do it for me" to any greater degree. I still don't see the
various decisions (that Ed Cherlin did a great job of listing) as
flowing from each other, but rather as being almost entirely
orthogonal.

Well, once you drill down, you can't, e.g., have a barcode without
paper. But for the most part, each large element is independent in
motivation.

I had not heard of a Ben Franklin Close before Ed's note. But
something along those lines is much closer to the way I think of the
issues. Not necessarily one-per-page, but possibly so. But generally
as a table like:

   Thing to decide Pros Cons
+-------------------+--------------------+--------------------+
| Paper, not DRE | ... | ... |
+-------------------+--------------------+--------------------+
| Free Software | ... | ... |
+-------------------+--------------------+--------------------+
etc.

Still... I'll try to be quiet on the thing after now. The tree doesn't
fit my conception, but if it would convince someone else, I'm not one
to complain about that.
