Right. And if the pollworker gives them a smartcard after checking their
name on the list, the voter might envision a scheme where this would reveal
their identity to the voting machine. I suspect voters will have less
reason to worry about the identity issue where no such electronic device is
used between the sign-in table and the voting booth.
