Please join Debra Bowen for a public hearing on the Secretary of State's
Top-to-Bottom Review of California's voting systems.
The hearing will be next Monday, July 30th at 10 am (1500 11th St,
downtown Sacto).
The voter registrars that were against Bowen's review will probably be
out in force, so please show up to support Debra and her efforts to
ensure fair and accurate elections in California!!
We hope to see you there!

CA Voting Systems PUBLIC HEARING July 30th at 10 am (1500 11th St,

Thanks Jackie for sending out this call for a PLANNED ACTION at the July
30 SoS hearing (and for thesign templates and earlier notice you sent
last week).

See list of Practical Preparations below.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Responses:

1. I will prepare and distribute this call as an e-mail message to the
90+ Californians with registered Election Defense Alliance web accounts.

2. I recommend that anyone in CEPN, VRTF, and WDRC or other E I groups
who wants to collaborate on preparing a pre-hearing rally, post your
responses either to:

-- any of the above three listservs that you have posting privileges to

    -- send a copy to ca.voteraction@sbcglobal.net
<mailto:%20ca.voteraction@sbcglobal.net> (since I have access to all
four of the above lists) or to: Info@ElectionDefenseAlliance.org
<mailto:Info@ElectionDefenseAlliance.org>

3. I am investigating ways EDA might be able to put up some
interactive pages to facilitate this event organizing.

When such pages become available, they will be linked at
http://electiondefensealliance.org/action_of_the_day and announced on
these list-servs.

I am assuming Sherry Healy will do something similar at
http://www.CAprotect.org (but Sherry appears to be away on vacation at
this writing)

4. Some practical preparations:

-- Write out and practice delivering your 2-minute Public Comment
statement;

"Members of the public are encouraged to submit written comments on
agenda items.
Written comment should be sent by US mail to the address above
or by email to votingsystems@sos.ca.gov
<mailto:%20votingsystems@sos.ca.gov>.
Those wishing to provide oral comment at a meeting should
complete a speaker's card upon arrival."

-- Research a more in-depth critique of the voting systems
components up for review [scroll down to see listing]

-- More extended statements can also be made with prior arrangement
"Those wishing to provide an extended statement should submit
a request via the email address above or contact Lowell Finley at (916)
653-7244 at least 24 hours prior to the meeting."

-- Download the sign templates Jackie prepared and make your signs
to bring

-- Help compile a list of reporters to send a pre-event press release.

Journalists in any media (newspaper, blog, radio, tv) for whom
you have their personal, direct work address, phone, and fax
We can probably engage the assistance of a veteran Sacramento
publicity specialist who has aided CEPN actions in the past.

    -- Car Pool arrangements

If you can offer rides, state how many passenger vacancies you
have, your departure time and location, and your contact info
If you need a ride, send in your contact info to any of the
above addresses
Amtrak is also an option; I'll try to get a schedule posted
soon, (or if someone else gets it done first, great)
If EDA can arrange an interactive page to facilitate
ride-sharing, I will let you know
