The documentation could for sure be a lot better. What you should
do is download the CVS - then you will get everything, except the
audio files (large) and the Gnosis utilities. Well, this is not
true for the BRP app that I couldn't get to work myself...

Go to some directory and download these files there:

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/evm2003/evm2003-bva-beta.zip
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/evm2003/audio-1.1.zip
http://gnosis.cx/download/Gnosis_Utils-current.tar.gz

  Then:

cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/evm2003 login

Just press <ENTER> when prompted for a password

cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/evm2003 co -P src
tar zxf Gnosis_Utils-current.tar.gz
cd src
ln -s ../Gnosis_Utils-1.2.0/gnosis
cd evm2003/rii
unzip ../../../audio-1.1.zip

You will need to edit the file RII.py to choose which audio player
to use. I have used 'sox' on my Linux system, see the README file
(yeah, there actually is one there!) for more details. Try comment
out line 186, and uncomment lines 187-188:

# self.pid = os.spawnl(mode, "/usr/local/bin/qtplay", "qtplay", file)
                self.pid = os.spawnl(mode, "/usr/bin/sox", "sox", file,
                                "-t", "ossdsp", "/dev/dsp")

  Now start the RII with:

./runrii.py

cd ../bva
unzip ../../../evm2003-bva-beta.zip

You may have to edit bva.py to select audio player (set by the
script variable 'command'). Then start the BVA:

./bva.py

The program now waits for input from the barcode scanner. Try pasting
  in these numbers instead:

  4098429771589485355423334452689650248916
  1111111111111111111111111111111111111111

And finally the GUI:

cd ../gui/
./gui.py

Hope this helps.
