This deserves a letter to the editor. Here's one I wrote to the San Jose Mercury News:

------
Today brings news that Jim March, a strong advocate for fair and open ballot counting, has been arrested for exercising his right to supervise counting of San Diego's mayoral ballots. This is a step too far. First they forced us to use voting machines containing secret software, which are tested by vendor-funded labs and produce secret test results. Then they said we must forgo paper ballots. Now they’re arresting citizens who dare to try to supervise what little of the counting process still remains visible.

America is in for dark days if we do not force our public servants – and the vendors they choose – to count our votes accurately and transparently. Please support open-source voting by visiting http://www.openvotingconsortium.org, and Jim March’s continuing investigations by visiting http://www.blackboxvoting.org.
------

Please consider writing your own letter. While there have been many differing views on BBV's approach, Jim March has done a lot of good work, including some for OVC, and to all appearances was completely in the right last night.
