Here is an opportunity for the OVC to get involved in some of the dialog
going on now with the CA SOS office. I plan to attend this meeting, and I
will submit some comments beforehand.

It would help if voting-project list members would write something also.
One of my favorite points will have to do with the fact that Avante claims
the blind voter will be able get their vote verified on the same machine on
which they indicate their selections.

Please write to them ASAP (Jan 6 is the deadline). Let them know about the
need for open "transparent" voting systems and procedures. If you need
ideas on what to say, you might want to review Irwin Mann's paper.

Be sure to mention specifically the work of the Open Voting Consortium.
