Hello:

As a member of the Open Voting Consortium I must inform you that we have serious problems with HR811. Please contact the president of our organization for more information. More specifically, the author of the bill is not allowing any amendments or revisions. Despite the repeatedly demonstrated need for it, there is no actual scientific audit required in the bill. Finally, local authority for running elections is removed and placed in the hands of a small group called the EAC. These are appointed by the president and answer only to him. Again, I must ask you to please stop advocating for this extremely flawed bill which just possibly could make things worse! Senator Feinstein of California is supposed to be putting forward something a lot better and is normally open to amendments.

Thanks, Edmund R. Kennedy

Subject: Tell Congress To BRING BACK Paper Ballots
TELL CONGRESS WE MUST HAVE PAPER BALLOTS AS THE OFFICIAL RECORD OF OUR ELECTIONS
Before Congress commits another huge corrupted blunder in the name of "reforming" our election system, we must raise our voices to demand a return to paper ballots. It is not just that the more computer voting equipment they install the more outlandish and improbable are the final results. The basic problem is that computerized voting is NOT compatible with a secret ballot.
Information technology people point to computerized banking and ask why we can't have the same thing in our vote counting. Except that when you deposit 10 cents in your bank account, and 10 cents doesn't show up, YOU know it. But there is no way for an individual citizen, or anybody, to verify that their vote was accurately counted once it gets lost in a computer memory bank. And once that happens, there is nothing to effectively recount, even in the case of gross error or malfeasance.
>From this we know that only paper ballots can be trusted with our secret votes. Anything less is just courting even greater disasters in the future.

THE UPCOMING ACTIVIST RADIO NETWORK PROJECT
We are going to start showing the news interface for the Activist Radio Network in about a week. How would you like to have your own radio show? Many of you will remember the Desktop Action software we debuted last year, allowing you to send messages to Congress with one click right from your computer desktop. We are in the final stages of a major upgrade to this program including a potentially unlimited selection of audio transmission channels.
As we are finishing up the coding of the new interface we would like to invite you to start submitting your audio content so we can but together a beta playlist as a demonstration. We are interested in any and all of your own recordings of a progressive nature, commentary, interviews, music, comedy, whatever you are inspired to produce that you think will inspire others to speak out on the issues. The only stipulation is that all submission must be your own creation, where you can personally authorize broadcast.
Here is a special upload page for the new Activist Radio resource to get in on the ground floor of this new resource.

Please take action NOW, so we can win all victories that are supposed to be ours.
