Dear Friends,

A key component of our organizing efforts this year will involve
meetups. We've just started with this. The first Open Voting meetup
was in Santa Cruz on the Tuesday following our terrific fundraising
event Feb 4.

Lara Shaffer reported that the meetup was great! The group started
planning movie showings at three different locations in the Santa Cruz
area to continue to inform the Santa Cruz community about the need for
open voting and to raise money for the Open Voting Consortium.

We can accomplish a lot via Internet and phone, but there just is no
substitute for personal meetings. It's a great way to meet others
involved in the OVC project and divide up tasks that will bring us
success. The page for the Santa Cruz group is here:

We have organizers lined up in several other cities already. We want
to organize meetups "in all the cities." I am starting the one in
Sacramento, CA -- our first meeting will be next Wednesday.

We expect to have OVC California meetup groups starting soon in San
Jose, Oakland, Berkeley, San Franciso, Long Beach, Los Angeles, and
San Diego. We have people that have already agreed to be meetup
organizers in other states too, including Missouri (St. Louis) and
Ohio (Columbus).

Our national organizer for meetups is Patti McCarron
(patti@openvoting.org 831-458-9504). Please get in touch with Patti
and ask her how you can get involved.

Also, please see the calendar of events on our home page at

Thanks!
