    Aside from the bussiness issues, there's a scientific matter. It's the duty of every author to provide a careful selection of relevant references. It's mandatory not a courtesy to you but as a service to future readers.

It's not uncommon for mistakes to be made when ideas are arrived at separately, but it's not an excuse to leave the record be. Ping has an scientific publication obligation cite your related works even if he did not use them. It's your obligation not to be embarrassed to point this out.
