If it's anything like California (which it's probably not), the ballot
images in the computer memory are the "official ballots" or "official
record" of the vote. I'm not sure there's such a ripe legal argument
here... that is, as long as the Snohomish crowd is using the same
*criteria* as the rest of the state to decide whether or not a ballot
counts, there's probably no Bush v. Gore line of argument (please
point one out if I'm wrong).

What will be interesting is to see if the hand-count is different
(with 92,000 chances to screw up, it undoubtedly will be) and what
they do about it. -Joe
