Florida, 2000. The Republicans demanded that illegally cast
absentee ballots from US troops overseas be counted, and the
Democrats caved. Great con job, carried out right in public.

It demonstrates that no procedural safeguard is proof against
clever subversion of election monitors, in much the same way
that no computer system can be fully protected from authorized
users. Not that we should stop trying, in either case.
