I find that discussions on email work better than Wiki's precisely
because we get notified when there is something new and can respond
to that. (Although it is easier for newbies to catch up with Wiki's
than with email discussions.)

Wiki's are best for collaborative document development.

I'm writing this from France, and I could not participate in a Wiki
from here but can participate in email, since email is asynchronous
while Wiki's require synchronous communication.
