I want to make a fine point of clarification about something I wrote
earlier:

I guess there is nothing wrong, strictly speaking, with the way Lou put it.
However, that's not quite how I see it.

We don't have the paper trail to back up the electronic record. What we are
really advocating, is a paper ballot which is backed up by the electronic
record. The electronic record helps by providing additional audit trails
and it facitates tabulation. But the printout says "OFFICIAL BALLOT."
That's what it is -- the physical token representing the vote that the voter
sees and verifies.
