I probably know less than you might imagine. I hadn't seen Anand's
website, but knew his general feeling. I do not have the source code
Anand wrote, but I think Matt does. However, it cannot be uploaded
until the explicit copyright license is finally placed at sourceforge[*]

I am reluctant to take on the dev lead position for several reasons.
Partly it's the same license concern Anand has, partly it's time
commitments, partly it's some odd psychological thing on my part. But
if Jeff Wright is willing to do that, I believe that is wonderful all
the way around. Plus, since he's a UC academic, that looks good for NSF
proposal.

[*] I haven't heard back from FSF with an opinion. Perhaps I will; but
I think in the meanwhile we should post our license (EVMPL=GPL+Jones
clause) VERY explicitly and prominently on the sourceforge page.
