Voting Project list archive live

I received the digests of mailing list traffic from Arthur today. I
needed to massage those a bit to match the mbox format Hypermail wants,
and also to munge From addresses, invent Message-ID's compact subject
lines, and a few other little things. All that done, I think the
archive looks pretty nice--Hypermail does a good job of producing them,
including views by thread, date, author, and so on. There's one or two
things I wish it did differently, but using the tool was a lot easier
than programming it from scratch myself.

For technical reasons, it was easier for me to set up the archive at a
web host I have with a bit longish URL, rather than at my main
domain. However, I created a redirect page at the main site, so we
should still generally publish:

as the archive address. I may or may not eventually move the actual
files back there; but as-is you just get immediately sent to the address (if your browser doesn't support
redirects, the link is still displayed prominently).

Going forward, my process will be slightly different (and not yet
entirely worked out). There is enough traffic that we should certainly
create indices for each time period--probably per month. Once google
indexes our archive, the included search box will do a good job of
finding messages and threads wherever they occur in time. So in the
near future, there will be a link for "August 2003"; and after that,
others. Once I get it all set up, I should keep the archive updated at
least daily, and probably more often.

Yours, David...
