It may be best to write in your candidate´s name instead of marking the
option next to your candidate´s name. This way we force hand counting
of the ballots and take the tabulation out of the domain of machines.

I heard that some states require write in candidates to ¨declare their
candidacy¨ formally before votes will be counted for such an individual.
