So, are we talking about the OVC forums or the SourceForge forum(s)? If
everything is to be moved to some forum board then let's get a consensus on what
venue to use and stick to that.

I have been getting conflicting advice from users of this list on which sites
and message boards to use. There is nothing that kills project momentum quite
like being stretched too thin. I appreciate David Mertz' observations that we
might get a lot of cross-postings between boards; lost topics with no home; and
references in one thread to information on another thread. These are common
problems even on traditional Usenet newsgroups like all the various computer OS
and language groups.

However, I disagree with David's assertion that the component discussions are
"closely enough related that no clear separation presents itself." Any design
document that doesn't have a very clear separation between operations, software,
and hardware isn't worth the electrons it is stored on. I believe our
discussions *can* be separated in this fashion. Perhaps we can -- as a community
of like-minded people intent on a single goal -- come to some understanding of
what category a particular issue resides under. (Oy. This language is clumsy.)

I also disagree that 250+ messages in a single month is not too much. It *is*
too much. The nature of the messages themselves, with content strewn about
between quoted passages of age-old posts, requires a somewhat careful reading
before just deleting the whole mess. If we had more discipline in quoting and
could express ourselves concisely and with precision then perhaps this wouldn't
be a problem. A threaded type of message board or newsgroup would resolve some
of this. Perhaps we should find or start a Usenet newsgroup --
alt.openvotingsystems, anyone?
