Yes, you'll need a way to differentiate the type of contest to apply the
appropriate logic modules. That shouldn't be too difficult.

Beware of confusing ranked preference ballots with one of several
schemes for determining the winner in a race using such ballots.

The self-checking rules that work for IRV/STV are different from the
rules that work for weighted preference, even though the ballots look
identical. The difference is in how you count them.
